Trinity
Learning Community
Welcome to Trinity
Learning Community (TLC), a trans-denominational educational
institution which, in partnership with St.
Stephen’s University, offers Bachelor of Christian Studies
and Master of Ministry degrees. We also offer programs for those who
are not seeking a formal degree, but wish to come to a deeper understanding
of the Christian faith and tradition.
We place a high value on learning in a relational context. One of
the things which sets TLC’s program apart from many others is that,
while students are exposed to outstanding academics and structural leaders
throughout their education, they are also assigned a local professor
who mentors the student through their entire program, not just one class.
Furthermore, our students go through the classes as a group which facilitates
relation and an atmosphere in which students discourse and explore issues
with those whom they have come to know as friends, not just students.
We keep our class sizes limited to around 10 students so that students
can experience greater engagement with the professor as well as with
each other.
While we do provide a strong academic foundation, our focus is not
to produce academics, but thinkers and doers. We want our students to
come to a deeper understanding of their faith not only for their own
benefit, but so that they may better grasp and articulate God’s
story for this postmodern generation. In other words, theology has to
translate into practice. Students will learn in an environment where
the goal is not to simply memorize information, but to reflect on the
things of God and how they can be effectively applied to real world situations
and issues. We are not interested in indoctrinating students with a particular
religious philosophy but in providing students with understanding and
tools that will help them be more effective ministers in the world.
Is all this of interest to you but you can’t see how you can work
this into your already overcrowded schedule? While pursuing a degree is
not easy and does require commitment, we have structured our programs to
make it accessible to those who have responsibilities such as careers and
family. Instead of the traditional, full-time semester or quarter programs,
our students meet throughout the year with some time off for holidays and
the Summer. Courses are offered sequentially and meet for five weeks, one
evening a week throughout the year. This enables our students who have
other commitments to pursue their dream of an education without disregarding
other commitments while also allowing students to apply what they are learning
immediately to their life situation.

Distance Learning
For those who are unable to meet at a physical location, we also
offer distance learning through online classes. These classes meet
in a virtual classroom, real-time, with the professor and other students
in much the same way our live classes are taught. Click for more
information on our distance learning program.
